Why should my child be employed by a Group Training Organisation?

Group Training offers an excellent pathway for individuals to complete a qualification through an apprenticeship or traineeship.

In this structured training and employment model, a Group Training Organisation (GTO) serves as the direct employer of apprentices and trainees under an Apprenticeship or Traineeship Training Contract. The GTO then places them with host employers, providing valuable on-the-job experience.

As the employer, the GTO is responsible for ensuring the quality and continuity of both employment and training. Additionally, it provides essential support and guidance to facilitate the successful completion of the training contract.

All members of AEN SA are accredited by the State Government of South Australia for meeting National Standards for Group Training Organisations. These Standards include requirements for effective support of Apprentices and Trainees.

GTO’s offer significant advantages which many other employers of apprentices and trainees can’t provide.

Benefits of your child undertaking an apprenticeship / traineeship through Group Training

They earn a wage while gaining valuable skills and experience.

Their training may qualify for a government subsidy, helping to reduce the cost of their apprenticeship or traineeship to the GTO and host.

They are allocated a dedicated support person (Group Training Consultant) to provide mentoring support and assistance if they have any issues.

If work with a particular host employer becomes unavailable, they will not face unemployment. As a GTO employee, they will be placed with another host employer to ensure the continuity of their apprenticeship or traineeship (where possible).

They have the flexibility to rotate among different host employers, gaining diverse experience across various work environments.

Their wage and allowances are managed and paid by the GTO in accordance with relevant Awards and agreements.

The GTO manages all administrative tasks and government paperwork on their behalf.

Coordinate their off-the-job training with a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) or TAFE and ensure their learning is on-track and up-to-date to ensure a smooth learning experience.

The GTO will provide them with the necessary PPE, safety equipment, and inductions at the commencement and throughout the duration of their apprenticeship / traineeship.

Group Training Organisations (GTOs) historically have higher completion rates for apprenticeships and traineeships.
